TubeGraph: Finding the best parts of each video!

Inside the videos... What are the others doing?

We mentioned a tendency in Internet towards considering the different parts of videos separately, thus enhancing the information about them. While we focus on the (dynamic) ratings made by users, we would like to share some of the other approaches we know about that are in the same line, playing within the videos:

  • Hot Spots in Youtube Insight gives YouTube video uploaders the opportunity to find the "hot spots" of their videos. The result is also a time graph, while they consider objective data such as abandonment rate.
  • Gaudi (Google Audio Indexing) uses speech technology to find spoken words inside videos (by now the showcase is focused on election material) and lets the user jump to the right portion of the video where these words are spoken.
  • Viddler allows users to post timed tags and timed comments inside of the videos.
  • VideoTagGame by Yahoo! explores tagging for streamed video, also enriching the videos with tags at different times
  • YouTube Video Annotations permits the inclusion of interactive commentaries inside videos.
  • YouTube "deep links" is a feature of YouTube that permits users link directly to a specific time within each video.
  • TubeChop allows users to chop and share the parts of YouTube videos that they want.

We're sure there will be many others up there (like in the YouTube Project Gallery), so feel free to post a comment telling us about them! We will cover with more detail the most relevant projects in different posts in the future.
